The National Bureau of Statistics reported in late May that China built 460,000 new 5G base stations and more than ten high-throughput data center clusters, increasing intelligent computing capacity by more than 30 percent.
Beijing, Sichuan, Ningxia, and Henan have launched several centers linked to the artificial intelligence (AI) industry and have become strong drivers of innovation in industrial manufacturing, natural sciences, biomedicine, and research simulation.
Shan Zhiguang, director of the Information and Industrial Development Department at the National Information Center, stated that the achievement in building intelligent computing centers focused on AI and business needs is essential to promote the sustainable and efficient development of national resources in this sector.
China’s first public computing interconnection platform opened on July 11 and it enabled consultation and the use of resources nationwide.
