Argentinian Front to rally against hunger and Gov’t policies

Buenos Aires, Jul 18 (Prensa Latina) The “Territorios en Lucha” front confirmed Thursday to arrange a Friday rally against hunger and the Argentinian Government's austerity measures, in which Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Perez Esquivel will participate.

As part of the initiative, over 500 popular pots will be set up all over the country to share food, and the main event will take place at 3:00 p.m., local time, at the Obelisk in the capital.

Among the organizations that will be represented are the National Territorial Federation of Autonomous Trade Union, the Free of the South, the The Rebellious Argentina Movement, the Dario Santillan Popular Front and the Coordinator for Social Change.

In a joint communiqué, these groups warned of the accelerated deterioration of living conditions and pointed out that food insecurity in urban areas reaches 24.7% of people, 20.8% of households and 32.2% of children and adolescents. The impossibility of accessing necessary food, particularly in the most vulnerable sectors, is the direct responsibility of the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello, the text refers.

We denounce that the worst violence is hunger and we vindicate each and every one of the people who throughout the length and breadth of our beloved Argentina continue to maintain soup kitchens and picnic areas that provide what the Government denies, the communiqué concludes.
