The official gave an interview to the general director of TASS news agency, Andrei Kondrashov, on the sidelines of the Caucasus Investment Forum, and commented that many nations see how the United States behaves, limiting and using the dollar as it pleases.
“It is for this reason that we have to create secure instruments, mechanisms in advance, so that we can carry out economic activities abroad without looking at the immediate desires and actions” of the United States, Novak noted.
“Therefore, we see this change, we see this attitude on the part of many countries. There is a willingness to build partnership relations on a new mechanism, on the liquidation of national currencies, on the creation of new instruments within the BRICS and bilateral relations,” the official added.
“It is clear that this is not an immediate action, for this we need to create the appropriate payment infrastructure, but nevertheless we are moving in this direction,” said Novak, who stressed that sanctions that restrict payments only spoil the image of the dollar as a reserve currency.
The Caucasus Investment Forum is being held in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic, from July 15 to 17.
