Havana, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) The 3rd Ordinary Session of the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) of Cuba, which opened on Wednesday in this capital, has an intense agenda and debates on several draft laws.

Parliament President Esteban Lazo assured that all decisions made will be based on the people’s well-being.

He explained that since the previous session in December, the parliamentary working commissions and the Council of State have worked very hard.

Lazo noted that the parliamentarians have followed up on the measures directed by the Government to correct distortions and re-boost the economy, a process that made it possible to identify deficiencies in the recognition of regulatory provisions, as well as in the control of compliance with laws and public policies.

The parliamentary leader lamented the death of lawmaker George Américo Batista, who dedicated more than 24 years to the work for the Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC), from the grassroots to the national level.

He also congratulated the residents of Sancti Spíritus province, which will host the main event on the Day of National Rebelliousness.
