Police forces, urgently called to the crime scene, have cordoned it off and the first inquiries into the tragedy have begun. Brief releases revealed that at least two injured were taken to an emergency center and five people were arrested.

The shooting is added to the violent weekend that caused 10 deaths, among them four teenagers from 13 to 17 years old, shot by unknown persons, while celebrating a birthday in Quilicura, a municipality of the city of Santiago.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) drew attention to Tuesday’s case and spurred Boric’s Government to safeguard children effectively and tackle this top-priority task, while describing it as not acceptable that children and adolescents be killed or injured daily in their communities.

Chile’s polls have shown that one of the population’s major concerns is insecurity, over their economic and labor situation.
