Attal had presented his resignation and that of his government on Monday of last week, after the recent setbacks for the ruling party in the European elections (June 9) and legislative elections (June 30 and July 7).

What happened today means that the resigning government will fulfill basic functions so that France continues without a power vacuum until the formation of a new executive in the coming weeks.

A few days ago, Macron asked the country for patience to give time to create alliances and agreements in the National Assembly, which would allow the nomination of a prime minister in charge of forming a government, in a lower house with all the political forces far from the absolute majority.
