Managua, July 16 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly (Parliament) today unanimously approved the bill that declares the youth of this Central American nation as National Heritage of Nicaragua.

The approval of the regulations occurs after on Sunday, through presidential decree 08-2024, the Nicaraguan president, Daniel Ortega, recognized the leading and decisive role played here by the youth from the indigenous resistance of the chiefs Diriangén, Nicarao and Adiact.

The explanatory statement presented in Parliament indicates that it was submitted by Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo and highlights and honors the Nicaraguan youth of all time.

“This initiative celebrates the constant formation of national consciousness and the determination to fight poverty, highlighting the collaboration of all young people to advance towards a future of love, justice and peace,” the four-article document states.

Deputy Carlos Emilio López highlighted the legacy of the youth, who defeated the Somoza dictatorship, and recalled that it was young people who formed the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

“A group of heroic, patriotic, invincible young people like Carlos Fonseca, Silvio Mayorga, Tomás Borge, Germán Pomares and others. the FSLN is the example of that mystique, that dedication and that sacrifice of the Nicaraguan youth,” he stressed.

He added that it was patriotic young people who managed to sustain the Revolution and its great achievements in the first stage, such as the Great National Literacy Crusade, the transformations in health and the agrarian reform.

“This law recognizes the Sandino Cubs who defended our Revolution in the eighties and the youth who remained faithful to the revolutionary principles during neoliberalism,” López emphasized.
