Despite being the country’s leading export product after textiles and coffee, the sugar harvest reached only 1,630,000 tons, the entity noted.

El Mundo newspaper reported that the six sugar mills of this country milled almost more than 7.12 million tons of sugarcane, and sugar production was reduced by 74,087.2 tons compared to the 2022-2023 milling.

The lowest harvest previously recorded corresponds to the 2017-2018 period when sugar production reached only 1.63 million tons.
