Nearly the entire population of Gaza suffers from food insecurity, which is a major problem in the territory, the agency stressed. It added that recent evacuation orders from the Israeli Army further hamper the ability of humanitarian organizations to respond to the crisis.

The WFP explained that in the city of Gaza, in the north of the Strip, the agency was forced to reduce food rations to families temporarily.

It warned that sanitation is almost non-existent in the Gaza Strip, a situation that aggravates the problem and threatens to cause large-scale epidemics. “Sewage and mountains of garbage have led to very high infection rates,” the WFP noted.

The agency stated that access to emergency medical care is also a challenge for the population.

With respect to the West Bank, the WFP highlighted that security deteriorated significantly due to increased attacks by settlers and the Israeli Armed Forces.

In the West Bank, hundreds of Palestinians have been reported dead, thousands of arrests and restrictions impede movement between cities and communities, the agency criticized.

“These restrictions, along with violence and checkpoints, have severely impacted the economy and daily life,” the agency stressed.
