After former head of Government Pushpa Kamal Dahal lost a confidence motion in the House of Representatives on Friday, Poudel invited political parties to form a new Executive by Sunday under Article 76 of the Constitution, the Kathmandu Post informed.
Following the deadline for claiming the post of prime minister, the Nepalese president appointed KP Sharma Oli, 72, who was the only candidate for the post with the support of 166 lawmakers, the news outlet indicated.
The members of the new Council of Ministers are expected to be announced during the day.
According to media reports, Oli took office at a time when a strong and stable government was needed for national prosperity and development.
