The opening ceremony of the maneuvers took place in the Chinese port of Zhanjiang.
Before the ships set sail, a meeting was held to mark the start of the joint maneuvers, which will take place from July 15 to 17.
The detachment consists of the corvettes Gromkii and Rezkii of the Russian Pacific Fleet, and the destroyer Yinchuan, the frigates Dali and Hengshui, and the universal supply transport Weishanhu, of the Chinese Navy.
During the exercises at sea, the crews of the navies from both countries will perform joint air defense and anti-submarine exercises in which the anti-submarine aviation of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will participate, and will practice mid-air refueling.
Sailors from both countries will also participate in maritime search and rescue training.
The first joint naval maneuvers of the Russian and Chinese navies were held in 2005 in the Yellow Sea. They have been carried out regularly in different regions since 2012.
