According to the state-run KCNA news agency, the central-level meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Kim Tok Hun, a member of the Workers’ Party Political Bureau and vice chairman of the State Affairs Committee, and Deputy Prime Ministers Pak Jong Gun and Ri Chol Man.
The meeting was based on the remarks by DPRK leader Kim Jon Un at the most recent enlarged plenary meeting of the party.
On that occasion, the chairman of the State Affairs Committee stressed that the economy had shown signs of revival in the first half of the year, but also called for taking measures to keep that course and achieve all 12 major economic and social goals of the country in the five-year period.
The DPRK leader also urged to promote the local industries development program, known as the 20×10 policy, which consists of building high-efficiency factories in 20 districts during each of the next 10 years.
Both the Council of Ministers and the provincial governments took up those approaches and made proposals to ensure the smooth running of the economy in the remainder of 2024, KCNA added.
