The head of government made the call during a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador in Dhaka, Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy Eldin, according to a government source.
Hasina reaffirmed her country’s rejection of war and incursions against the Palestinians.
She also reiterated the call to stop the financing of arms and conflicts and allocate it for the good of humanity, particularly women and children.
The Egyptian ambassador agreed with the head of the Bangladeshi government’s views on the Zionist massacre against the Palestinians.
On the other hand, the two discussed aspects of the ties between the two nations such as trade ties that can further flourish according to their potential.
The total trade volume between Bangladesh and Egypt was around $180 million in fiscal year 2022-2023, Hasina specified.
The Prime Minister stressed that collaboration in the fields of agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, tourism and education can be beneficial for both countries.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian diplomat appreciated the socio-economic development achieved by Bangladesh under Hasina’s leadership.
He also confirmed the desire of the Grand Imam of Egypt, whose rank is equivalent to the level of Prime Minister according to the Constitution, to visit the South Asian nation, which met with a positive response from the head of government.
He also expressed his country’s interest in increasing trade and business between the two nations.
