The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had reported on Sunday morning that it was close to identifying the gunman, but it did not have documents, so biometric methods and DNA tests had to be used.

Shortly afterwards, the FBI named Crooks in a statement in which it specified that the young man was a resident in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, some 56 kilometers south of Butler, where Trump’s rally was being held.

Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022, according to reports on local media and a video of his school’s graduation ceremony.
