The vaccine, developed by Cuba’s Molecular Immunology Center, was the first therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer patented and officially registered in the world.
Cuban Ambassador to Belarus Santiago Pérez commented that the decision by the Belarusian regulatory agency to register Cimavax is an indisputable achievement of Cuba’s biotechnology in a country with such high standards and demands as Belarus.
Pérez recalled that Belarus was precisely the first country in the continent where Cuba’s Soberana vaccine against Covid-19 was registered.
According to the Cuban diplomat, this registration is a sign of the progress of bilateral relations, specifically in the economic and commercial fields, and would contribute to increasing Cuba’s exports.
It also shows the progress in cooperation between the scientific communities of the two countries, and perhaps it is the beginning of a more dynamic process of mutual registration of medicines both in Belarus and Cuba, Pérez stressed.
