On his X profile, the head of Cuban diplomacy confirmed the recently disclosed news about the registration in Belarus of the Cimavax vaccine, developed by the Havana-based Molecular Immunology Center.
Rodríguez praised the merit of Cuba’s biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector, which continues to reap great results, despite the difficulties imposed by the intensification of the United States blockade against the Caribbean nation.
A report from the Prensa Latina, dated in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, on July 12, said that the local Ministry of Health, through its Expert and Testing Center in Health Care, had registered the Cuban-made Cimavax vaccine.
The Cimavax is the first therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer patented and officially registered in the world, according to the journalistic source.
The decision by the Belarusian regulatory agency is an indisputable achievement of Cuba’s biotechnology in a country with standards as high and demanding as Belarus, Cuban Ambassador in Minsk Santiago Pérez commented.
Belarus was the first European country to register Cuba’s Soberana vaccine against Covid-19, the diplomat noted.
According to the ambassador, this record also shows the progress of bilateral relations, specifically in the economic-commercial area, which would allow increasing exports to Cuba.
At the same time, it reveals the progress of cooperation between the two countries’ scientific communities and it may be the beginning of a more dynamic process of mutual registration of medicines in both Belarus and Cuba, Pérez assured.
