Arab Parliament denounces crisis in Gaza and demands end to war

Cairo, Jul 14 (Prensa Latina) The Arab Parliament warned on Sunday about the terrible living conditions of the population in the Gaza Strip, due to the daily attacks by the Israeli Army, which has caused famine and the collapse of the health system.

In a statement, the regional legislature demanded the rapid, safe and intensive entry of humanitarian aid for the inhabitants of that coastal enclave, which has been under fire for more than nine months.

The organization ratified the importance of the Palestinian cause for the Arab world and defended the creation of an independent State for that people, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In this regard, the Arab Parliament called to mobilize the international community to “stop the aggression of Israel’s occupation, the war of genocide and war crimes against humanity immediately.”

It also supported Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s plan to hold an international peace conference and take irreversible steps to implement the two-state solution.

The Arab Parliament reaffirmed its support for the joint Egypt-Qatar efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, where more than 100,000 deaths and injuries have been reported since October last year.

It also welcomed the decision by several countries, including Spain, Norway, Ireland, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Bahamas, to recognize Palestine.

The decision is “a victory for justice and the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent State,” the document noted.

The organization denounced Israel’s colonization policy in the occupied West Bank, and pointed out that it aims to change the historical and legal situation in the area.
