After a warning from President Nayib Bukele to food and agricultural products traders that he would take measures for abuse, a Government offensive was unleashed to get fruit and vegetable traders and importers to lower their prices.
The warning was preceded by the installation of 24 agro-markets where the population can purchase goods, mainly vegetables, at slightly lower prices, but it raised doubts as to how long this can be maintained since the country imports about 90% from neighboring countries.
