Cuban Parliament to develop a busy agenda next week

Havana, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Parliament will develop a busy legislative and economic agenda of transcendence for the nation's life.

National Assembly Secretary Homero Acosta informed that the 3rd Ordinary Session of the 10th Legislature of Cuba’s National People’s Power Assembly (ANPP) will begin on Wednesday, July 17.

Earlier, some 90 issues will be analyzed in the 11 permanent commissions on July 15-16.

The meeting is preceded by extensive work that included parliamentary visits to more than 1,000 workplaces, institutions, and communities, and lawmakers’ tours of the country’s municipalities and provinces, Acosta said on national television on Thursday.

He explained that the bills on Citizenship, Migration, and Foreigners; those on Administrative Procedure, Transparency, and Access to Public Information; and the System of Honorary Titles and Decorations will be debated during the meeting.

The delegates will also study the draft bill of the law on the socialist state enterprise, which must be submitted for debate in the future, he pointed out.

The lay judges of the Supreme People’s Court (TSP) will be elected, the government of Villa Clara province will present its report, and a group of lawmakers will swear in vacant seats.

Acosta noted that the members of the National Electoral Commission, established to organize, direct, and supervise elections, popular consultations, and referendums, will be elected.

Upon addressing economic issues, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero will explain to the lawmakers the progress being made in the implementation of measures to correct distortions and revive the economy.
