The full text of the report was published on Friday in the Razvedchik magazine (Intelligence Agent, in Russian).
On March 19, the head of the SVR, Sergei Naryshkin, stated that France was already preparing a 2,000-strong military contingent to send it to Ukraine, something that was denied by France.
The French Army is concerned about the increasing number of French deaths in the Ukrainian theater of operations. Dozens of French citizens were killed only as a result of the destruction of a temporary foreign deployment point near Kharkov on January 17, 2024, by the Russian Armed Forces, and since then “such attacks have become the standard in the Ukrainian conflict.”
The Ministry of the Armed Forces unofficially admitted that France has not had so many losses abroad since the war in Algeria.
According to the report, the number of victims is carefully hidden, as there are French soldiers deployed in Ukraine, which is why the organizations involved are dealing with practical issues: organizing funerals, paying compensation to the families of the deceased and pensions to the disabled.
According to the report, the number of French people killed on Ukrainian soil “has already exceeded a psychologically significant threshold.”
