The speaker of the Ethiopian House of Federation (Upper House), Agegnehu Teshager, met with the speaker of the sixth call of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova, on the sidelines of the Brics Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported on Friday.

Teshager highlighted the joint events of the legislative bodies from both countries in various international organizations.

He also praised Baku’s activities within the framework of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the initiatives presented during its presidency.

Gafarova, in turn, informed on the the events organized by the network, which was created at the proposal of President Ilham Aliyev, and recalled the participation of Addis Ababa in the conference of the organization.

She emphasized the importance of mutual visits between friendship groups that operate within the legislative bodies of both countries.

The meeting also debated the upcoming 29 session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in the Azerbaijani capital in November this year.

In this regard, Gafarova informed about the parliamentary conference to be organized by the National Assembly in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union within the framework of COP29.
