The official made these statements during a meeting with China’s International Trade Representative and Deputy Minister of Commerce, Wang Shouwen, at which he also stressed the importance and implementation of the consensus reached between Presidents Xi Jinping and Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The deputy prime minister is heading a delegation that is taking part in the 2nd High-Level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, organized by China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and to be held until July 13 under the theme “Promoting sustainable development: sustained action for a better future.”

Wang referred to the relevance of this event, at which new paths are outlined to promote cooperation and the implementation of the Global Development Initiative proposed by Beijing.

The Cuban official’s visit is the continuation of high-level meetings between the two countries, which the Chinese president has described as as “good friends, good brothers and good companions.”

This year’s edition of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development brings together high-level representatives from more than 50 nations and international organizations.

The main events include five parallel sub-forums on the eight key areas of cooperation of the Global Development Initiative.
