Argentines demand Cuba’s exclusion from US SSOT list

Argentina-CTA-A-Autonoma-1-1
Buenos Aires, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) Argentina's Permanent Assembly for Human Rights (APDH) echoed de demands for the Government of the United States to exclude Cuba from its State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.

In a statement, the APDH demanded Cuba’s immediate and definitive removal from that list, drawn up unilaterally by the US Department of State.

It also called for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington on Cuba for more than 60 years.

There are no motives or grounds whatsoever to justify this classification, so it is an openly biased and arbitrary decision that pursues despicable motives, the APDH message pointed out.

It also warned that this measure enables the adoption of decisions and actions to Cuba’s detriment by denying it access to basic goods and services that are essential for a dignified life.

This decision reinforces a criminal siege aimed at a radical political, social, economic and cultural change, violating the principle of sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples, the statement added.

The document pointed out that, as published by the United Nations, the unilateral designation goes against the fundamental principles of international law and human rights, including the right to food, health care, education, economic and social rights, the right to life and development.

Cuba does not sponsor terrorism, but the successive US governments that seek to impose a change in the internal politics of that country do, the statement stressed.

The APDH, faithful to its principles and history, advocates respect for and compliance with international law, and demands that Cuba be excluded from that list and that all restrictions and measures that sustain the inhumane and brutal blockade that for decades has caused enormous suffering and sacrifices to the Cuban people be lifted, it concluded.
