UN Security Council reviews peace process in Colombia

Colombia-Paz-1-1-1
United Nations, Jul 11 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday is reviewing the progress and challenges of the peace process in Colombia during the quarterly review presented by the Verification Mission, in which President Gustavo Petro is participating.

The Colombian president is presenting, for the first time, his report as a high contracting party of the 2016 Agreement, signed by then-head of State Juan Manuel Santos.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that more than 30 Government entities participated in the drafting of the document, in which the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) also took part.

The quarterly report presented by the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia confirmed the significant results in the progress toward peace in the country.

The report, which covers from March 27 to June 26, recognizes notable progress in the coordination and coherence efforts between the different entities responsible for the Final Agreement.
