Speaking at the 10th Extraordinary Virtual Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Diaz-Canel lamented the loss of lives and material damage caused by the meteorological event.
We confirm that they can count on the modest support of Cuba, where we know the magnitude of those weather events against small island territories and their fragile economies, the head of State pointed out.
The president noted that Cuban collaborators in those countries immediately got together to support the recovery efforts by those governments.
This 10th ALBA-TCP Extraordinary Summit focused on the support for the member countries of this regional integration mechanism to the Government of President Luis Arce after the recent attempted coup in Bolivia.
At the meeting, Diaz-Canel stressed the need for unity in Latin America and the Caribbean due to persistent attempts by US imperialism to frustrate the independence processes in the region.
The Cuban president stated, “We cannot allow the return of the infamous attitudes and coup actions that have sown such a painful memory in our America and that seek to reverse those nations’ will.”
He described as inadmissible the attempt to appropriate the legitimately established constitutional order by force of arms.
Diaz-Canel also underscored the validity and the need to defend vigorously the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, approved at the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States held in Havana ten years ago.
