Chambas, who is also the AU High Representative for the ceasefire, reaffirmed that military means are not the solution, and encouraged the Sudanese to find common ground through dialogue.
He called for actions and solutions to restore a state on the verge of collapse and to do everything possible to avoid it, because the impact will be catastrophic.
In this regard, the continental organization and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) created this platform for dialogue to bring together all parts of Khartoum society, he stressed.
Such a forum would pave the way for the vision of a new Sudan and reiterated that the AU, IGAD and its partners would facilitate and support the process, he stressed.
Still, the primary responsibility would rest with the Sudanese people, he said.
On the other hand, Chambas expressed disappointment over the absence of the Sudanese Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces (Taqadum), and confirmed that the AU would continue to hold inclusive consultations and maintain channels of communication with all parties.
