UN agency reported 453 attacks against its facilities in Gaza

Ramallah, July 10 (Prensa Latina) The UN agency in charge of helping the Palestinians denounced today that since the beginning of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, nine months ago, its facilities were attacked 453 times.

Two-thirds of our schools in the coastal enclave were affected and 524 people who were sheltered inside died, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) highlighted in its account in X.

On the same social network, this Wednesday the general commissioner of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, pointed out that in the last four days an equal number of schools were bombed by the Israeli army.

Those facilities went from “safe places of education and hope for children to overcrowded shelters and often ended up as a place of death and misery,” he lamented.

Nine months later, under our watch, the relentless and endless killings, destruction and despair continue, the UN official questioned.

Lazzarini warned that “blatant disregard for international humanitarian law cannot become the new normal” while calling for an immediate ceasefire.

For its part, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned about the serious humanitarian crisis in the territory as a result of the war.

OCHA revealed that some 50,000 children were born in that coastal enclave in the last nine months “often in traumatic, unhealthy conditions and without basic services.”

He also condemned the constant attacks on hospitals and health centers in Gaza, which suffer from overcrowding of the sick, wounded and refugees, to which is added the lack of medicine, food and fuel to run the electric generators.
