Ahmed paid an official visit to Port Sudan on Tuesday that, according to the head of the Ethiopian Government, was a further step in the efforts to stabilize Khartoum, address the challenges facing the people, and promote peace.
In this context, Selassie stressed the importance of the event, describing it as a significant milestone in the peaceful resolution of the armed clashes that have been taking place on Sudanese territory since April 15.
Ahmed was received by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, president of Sudan’s Sovereign Transitional Council (STC).
Upon addressing the 36th regular session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives (Parliament) on Thursday, the Ethiopian leader reaffirmed his country’s willingness to resolve peacefully the issues between the two conflicting parties while Addis Ababa remains neutral.
“Ethiopia is committed to continuing its efforts to help Sudan solve its problems independently and peacefully. The peace-loving people of Sudan deserve peace,” he stressed at the time.
