In a telephone conversation, the head of the Pakistani Government reiterated his sincere congratulations to the Iranian president-elect for his victory in the presidential elections, wished him a successful mandate and advocated close and joint work to further strengthen ties and improve bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, energy and regional security.
Furthermore, Sharif conveyed his good wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, and congratulated him and his people on the successful political transition through the democratic process, according to a press release from the prime minister’s office.
Sharif assured that both nations are friendly neighbors and are united by shared history, faith, culture and traditions.
The prime minister recalled that the joint decisions made during the historic visit in April 2024 of late President Ebrahim Raisi laid an excellent foundation for a mutually beneficial cooperative partnership.
Pezeshkian, in turn, thanked the Pakistani prime minister for his congratulations and agreed on the interest in further enhancing fraternal ties between the two nations.
Both leaders discussed regional issues and agreed to continue close coordination and consultation.
