The FSB reported on Telegram that another attempt by Ukraine’s special services to hijack and take abroad a strategic aircraft in complicity with agencies of NATO member countries, had been thwarted.

According to the FSB official statement, Ukrainian intelligence planned to recruit a Russian military pilot to divert a Tu-22M3 to Ukraine in exchange for a reward and Italian citizenship.

Thanks to a counterespionage operation, the security service gathered information that allowed launching an attack on the Ukrainian air base of Oziornoye, south of the city of Zhytomyr.

In the summer of 2022, the FSB reported a failed attempt to hijack Russian military aircraft by Ukraine’s secret services under supervision of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
