Modi celebrates progress in India-Russia relations

New Delhi, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the progress and impact of the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia in various sectors over the last 10 years.

In a statement before leaving for Moscow for a two-day visit on Monday, the head of Government underscored the progress of these ties in the areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health care, education, culture, tourism and between their peoples.

Modi noted that he looks forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation and prospects on regional and global developments with President Vladimir Putin, whom he described as a friend.

We seek to play a supportive role for a peaceful and stable region, he added.

Modi also highlighted his trip later to Austria, which he considered a strong and reliable partner for India. I hope my talks will take our partnership to even greater heights in new and emerging areas of innovation, technology and sustainable development, among other spheres, he emphasized.

Modi left on Monday for Russia on an official visit, described as very significant, to participate in the 22nd Annual Summit between the two countries, as part of a tour that will also include Austria.
