A high-level official revealed to the Al-Qahera News network that Israeli and US delegations are participating in the talks to discuss several key points to stop the war, which has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, and more than 1,000 Israelis.
The official highlighted that consultations are also being held with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), whose leaders abandoned their demand of forcing Israel to commit in advance to ending the aggression, although they demand guarantees from the mediators for this purpose.
Hamas received “verbal commitments and guarantees” that the war will not resume and that negotiations will continue after a first pause to reaching a permanent ceasefire, according to sources within the group.
However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed on Sunday that the conflict will continue until Israel achieves its objectives, including the dismantling of Hamas in Gaza, a project that even Israeli experts and military officers consider difficult to achieve.
The last round of ceasefire talks, held in Cairo in early May, ended without agreements.
