Kim Il-sung, who was born on April 15, 1912, and died on July 8, 1994, created the Juche idea and was the first leader of North Korea since its founding in 1948 until he died in 1994.
Havana and Pyongyang established diplomatic relations on August 29, 1960, by decision of their respective historic leaders, Fidel Castro Ruz and Kim Il-sung.
Since then, Cuba and the DPRK have maintained close cooperation and coordination on international issues, including Pyongyang’s condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba for more than 60 years.
