Cubans recall DPRK leader Kim Il-sung

Havana, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) The organization secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Roberto Morales, on Monday recalled the legacy of the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Il-sung, on the 30th anniversary of his death.

On his X profile, Morales emphasized that the friendship between Kim Il-sung and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, “is an indissoluble part of the legacy that constitutes the firm foundation of our inter-party relations.”

Kim Il-sung, who was born on April 15, 1912, and died on July 8, 1994, created the Juche idea and was the first leader of North Korea since its founding in 1948 until he died in 1994.

Havana and Pyongyang established diplomatic relations on August 29, 1960, by decision of their respective historic leaders, Fidel Castro Ruz and Kim Il-sung.

Since then, Cuba and the DPRK have maintained close cooperation and coordination on international issues, including Pyongyang’s condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba for more than 60 years.
