Ankara, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) Türkiye considers it necessary to create an international peace platform to seek a solution to the Ukrainian conflict, with broad participation of countries, its Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said today.

The war in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years now, has turned into a proxy war, Fidan pointed out, for whom the opposing parties only ‘seek to increase the volume of armaments and to carry out more aggressive military actions’, Fidan was quoted as saying by Ankara’s television.

It will be necessary to create a world peace platform, which can stop the deepening of polarizations, guarantee a high participation and representativeness, as well as give a high priority to diplomatic efforts, the Turkish minister believes.

Speaking at a meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkmen States in the Azerbaijani city of Susha, Fidan said that the countries, which are influenced in some way by the Ukrainian conflict, should always work together.

The Turkish authorities once offered Istanbul city to conduct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in 2022, mediated by the UN and Ukraine, although these talks never led to the end of the confrontation.

On February 24 of that year, President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a war operation to protect the population of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, which denounced eight years of genocide by Kiev.
