According to this source, the heavy rainfall and cloudy days are not a consequence of hurricane Beryl, which caused havoc as it passed through Caribbean nations.
The new director of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), Arturo Alvarado, told the press that this wave is part of the rainy season, so he recommended citizens to be alert and take precautions.
Alvarado explained that a preventive green alert was activated to keep all personnel vigilant and to reinforce Sinaproc’s base teams in the regions of Tocumen, Juan Díaz, North Panama, East Panama and the provinces.
According to the expert, the gradual deterioration of weather conditions may cause landslides, hence the recommendation to the population to avoid crossing rivers and less bathing in these tributaries.
