Turi1-1
Nyingchi, China, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Delegates from the Trans-Himalayan nations urged on Thursday to use natural resources and preserve the environment as part of ecotourism.

In one of the sessions of the 4th Trans-Himalayan Forum for International Cooperation, participants discussed the importance of preserving nature and preventing negative impacts from human activities.

Malaysian Professor Anthony Wong, an expert from the United Nations Sustainable Development Program, called for cooperation with local governments at the study and planning stages to develop tourism.

Tang Pei Shan, a marketing and hotel tourism consultant, spoke of the need to equate sustainable tourism with luxury and sport.

She called for developing activities that minimize their effect on the environment and creating details for customers to perceive the local environment

Wang Lingen, from the Center for Tourism at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stressed that ecotourism itself means the comprehensive development of ecology.

The expert advocated the promotion of green industries, especially in the Xixang Autonomous Region, also known as Tibet.

Participants in the forum explored other initiatives to develop responsible ecotourism that respects the customs and traditions of the trans-Himalayan nations.
