The president of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, was among the personalities who arrive in Congo on Thursday and was received at the Maya-Maya International Airport by the Minister of State and in charge of the Civil Service, Firmin Ayessa.
The President of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, also arrived in Brazzaville, as well as the Angolan Foreign Minister, Téte António.
The first International Conference on Afforestation and Reforestation aims to define a strategy to increase the number of global forest areas based on international cooperation, through the systematization of afforestation and reforestation activities.
The intention is to increase the capacity to retain carbon dioxide and prevent it from reaching the atmosphere, as one of the actions to confront climate change, in addition to preserving habitats and biodiversity.
The event brings together heads of State and government, ministers, regional and sub-regional political and economic organizations, the global scientific community, financial partners and donors, international forest, climate and biodiversity organizations, and representatives of civil society, among others.
