Venezuela and the US express willingness to work together

Caracas, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The Governments of Venezuela and the United States today expressed their willingness to work together to gain trust and improve relations, it was announced here at the end of a virtual meeting between delegations from both countries.

The member of the Bolivarian delegation to these dialogues -appointed by President Nicolás Maduro last Monday- Héctor Rodríguez indicated that they also agreed to “maintain communications in a respectful and constructive manner”, Rodríguez wrote on his social network account.

The Bolivarian politician and governor of the state of Miranda warned they will always respond with the truth and insisted that the “dialogue must be limited to what was agreed in Qatar.”

He stressed that to continue recovering mutual trust and relations between governments “the principles of self-determination, sovereignty and reciprocity must be respected.”

Maduro announced on Monday the restart of talks with the United States, within the framework of respect for sovereignty.

He explained that he received proposals from Washington for two months to resume dialogue to “reestablish direct talks” and after thinking, he decided to accept it so that agreements signed in Qatar are fulfilled and reestablish the terms with respect and without manipulation.”

“I want dialogue, I want understanding, a future for our relations and changes, yes, under the absolute sovereignty and independence of Venezuela,” he stressed.

The head of state advocated transparency in the conversations, saying that they held many secret meetings, which they did not respect and came up with versions that were not true.

He stated that he was a man of dialogue and wanted that through it “Venezuela, its democracy and its people be respected.”

“I want to overcome this conflict of brutal and sterile confrontation with the north, it is up to them to comply,” he stated.

The Venezuelan delegation is chaired by Jorge Rodríguez, head of the Dialogue Table with a sector of the opposition, and Héctor Rodríguez.
