The arrival of Jula and the delegation accompanying him to Kampala responds to an invitation from the head of the People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. A meeting with President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled for Thursday.
Upon arrival at the Entebe International Airport the Ethiopian delegation was welcomed by the Commander of the UPDF Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga; Ethiopian Ambassador to Uganda Etsegenet Bezabih, and other officials.
Subsequently, Jula and Kainerugaba discussed ways to enhance military cooperation between Ethiopia and Uganda and strengthen the role of their respective countries in keeping peace and security in the region.
The Ugandan general praised bilateral relations as ancient and historic, dating back to the Axumite period (between the 1st and 7th centuries AD).
Jula, in turn, affirmed that these ties acquired a strategic level, and noted the role of the two nations in guaranteeing peace and stability in the region.
The officials agreed to consolidate collaboration in the development of military capabilities and related areas.
