Bolivian entrepreneurs and Brazilian president to review investments

La Paz, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The Confederation of Private Entrepreneurs of Bolivia (CEPB) is preparing a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on investments and bilateral trade on July 9.

“Yes, there are meetings arranged in that regard (with the president of Brazil), obviously to promote commercial exchange between the countries and from our side also to encourage Brazilian investments in Bolivia,” CEPB President Giovanni Ortuño said.

Ortuño told reporters that the agenda will be broad, and underscored agribusiness, given that Bolivia is the main supplier of fertilizers in the region and Brazil is one of the largest producers of food and grains.

The official indicated that they are working with the Bolivian-Brazilian Chamber to close agreements. “We are going to announce them timely after the meeting with President Lula,” he anticipated.

The Brazilian head of State will visit Bolivia after participating in the Summit of Heads of State of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), in Paraguay, which Bolivian President Luis Arce will also attend.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the presidents will address a broad agenda of topics such as energy (hydroelectric and biodiesel), fertilizers, productive and road infrastructure, as well as trade issues.

Brazil is one of Bolivia’s main trading partners.
