ALBA-TCP agrees on roadmap to create Cooperation Agency

Caracas, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) agreed on the roadmap to create the Development Cooperation Agency.

The information was disclosed on Tuesday night on X by ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Jorge Arreaza, who pointed out that delegates from all ten member countries of the bloc participated in the meeting, which was held in Caracas with the objective of creating the Cooperation Agency in compliance with the mandate of the 23rd Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in April.

Arreaza stated at the opening of the meeting that the creation of this instrument will be “primary for the liberation of our peoples,” by promoting integration and humanitarian aid in a real and direct way. To do this, they will use the capabilities that “we already have as the ALBA Bank.” He ruled out that the Agency may generate any hint of bureaucracy.

The official quoted Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel when he said that the Alliance has “the most human achievements that can exist in any integration mechanism.”

The Executive Secretariat of ALBA-TCP and the ALBA Bank will be responsible for the operation of the Cooperation Agency, which will receive projects and quotes from the countries of the bloc among its functions.

Arreaza highlighted the importance of raising resources for cooperation, coming from its own members and other international organizations, especially in the face of the consequences of climate change, to address natural emergencies and contingencies.
