Russian Iskander missiles destroy five Ukrainian fighter jets

Moscow, Jul 2 (Prensa Latina) Russia destroyed five Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets with Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems targeting the Myrhorod airfield in Poltava province, the Defense Ministry reported on its official Telegram page on Tuesday.

The military institution stated that five Su-27 multirole fighters were destroyed, and two others were damaged.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the population from Kiev’s genocide, according to President Vladimir Putin.

On June 14, Putin formulated several crucial conditions to start peace negotiations, in particular, that Ukraine withdraws troops from four new Russian territories (Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye), refrain from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and maintain a neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status.
