The official Wafa news agency reported that at least eight people were killed and 30 were injured after artillery shelling hit the towns of Khan Yunis and Rafah.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, the military forces need another four weeks to complete their war campaign in Rafah, the epicenter of an offensive since early May that has caused severe damage to infrastructure and the exodus of more than one million Palestinians.
In the Nuseirat refugee camp a minor was killed this morning and several citizens were wounded during a raid by an Israeli fighter, Wafa noted.
Aviation and artillery also opened fire at the northern Gaza neighborhoods of Al-Shuja’iya and Al-Zaytoun.
Over the past week, the Israeli military has been carrying out a ground operation against Al-Shuja’iya under the pretext of fighting Palestinian militiamen.
The ground offensive was extended on Monday to Khan Yunis, shortly after the evacuation order issued by the army, which announced on Tuesday two more fatal casualties due to the fighting in the north.
Al Jazeera television warned that hundreds of patients were forced to leave the European Hospital in that town due to threats from the IDF.
Thousands of refugees in the camps have also begun to move to other areas, which is a death sentence for many of them, the news media stressed.
