In his weekly letter, the president underscored how, although the Ministers and Deputy Ministers who make up the Cabinet come from different parties, they are expected to serve the people as a whole by implementing a common program of action.
This provides a firm basis for greater stability, coherence and focus in the implementation of development programs, he stressed.
This is the first time in South Africa’s history that such a broad range of parties, from across the political spectrum, will set up a government, he recalled.
Thus, by mandating us to form a government that serves all, the people of South Africa have a legitimate expectation that the seventh administration will begin its work as soon as possible he added.
As political leaders, we must demonstrate that we are worthy of the trust our citizens have placed on this government, the president emphasized.
Now, in a spirit of partnership and collaboration, the incoming government will work together with other groups to convene National Dialogue, he added.
Civil society groups, labor, business and other stakeholders will be invited to work together to address the critical challenges that the nation is facing.
We are determined that the principles and program underpinning the Government of National Unity will extend beyond the institutions of the State, Ramaphosa added.
In that way, he emphasized, this is an opportunity for all South Africans to work together more closely and with greater purpose “to ensure that we build a South Africa for all.”
