According to the Ministry, it was found that the ATACMS missiles have three laser gyroscopes that allow the projectile to maintain the assigned ballistic trajectory.
They also have a GPS antenna to make adjustments in the first and last stages of the flight path; therefore, engineers have the opportunity to analyze how the missile’s systems work throughout its journey.
The United States began supplying ATACMS missiles to Ukraine in 2023.
The missiles have a caliber of 610 millimeters, are four meters long and weigh 1.6 tons. The Block 1 modification has a range of 165 kilometers.
Moscow has repeatedly warned that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is playing with fire by saturating Ukraine with weapons, and that foreign convoys carrying military equipment will be legitimate targets for the Russian military as soon as they cross the border.
