According to the provisions of the 2008 Bilateral Consular Access Agreement, authorities from the two countries hand over the lists to their counterpart every year on January 1 and July 1, the New Delhi-based Foreign Ministry said.
As part of the formal action, New Delhi gave Islamabad the names of 366 civilians and 86 Pakistani or self-identified Pakistani fishermen in its custody.
Similarly, Pakistan shared the names of 43 Indian civilians and 211 Indian fishermen detained on its territory.
In addition, the Indian Government requested the early release and repatriation of the detainees, fishermen with their boats and their defense personnel imprisoned in Pakistan.
It also asked Islamabad to speed up the release and repatriation of 185 fishermen and prisoners who have already served their sentence, and to provide immediate consular access to 47 prisoners and other Indian nationals who are yet to receive it, as well as assurances of safety and welfare to all detainees whose release and repatriation to India are still pending.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs also reaffirmed its commitment to address all humanitarian issues on a priority basis.
