Foreign policy, lunar mission and heavy rains mark week in China

Beijing, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) The celebrations on the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte's visit, the lunar probe's return to Earth, and heavy rains have marked the week ending on Saturday in China.

President Xi Jinping and China’s top leadership attended a conference marking the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the foundation of China’s foreign policy.

In his speech, Xi announced further measures to strengthen cooperation with the Global South and promote a new world architecture.

He predicted that China would establish a Global South Research Center, provide more than 100,000 scholarships for education and training, and launch the Global South Young Leaders’ Program in the next five years.

In order to support agriculture in those countries, China will donate ten million dollars to renew the South-South and Tripartite Cooperation Fund at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Another important event this week was the successful landing, in a global first, of the Chang’e-6 probe carrying samples from the far side of the Moon.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte’s official visit, her meeting with Chinese business leaders, and the signing the Joint Action Plan for 2024-2029 with Xi also made headlines these week in China.

The two presidents inked cooperation documents in the economic and trade spheres, digital economy, scientific and technological innovation, inspection and quarantine, and media.

This week, heavy rains and flooding continued to lash regions of southern China.
