Cuba denounces attempts to perpetuate US unilateral list

Havana, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Foreign Ministry denounced the approval of legislation in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress to perpetuate the arbitrary and unjustified classification of a country that allegedly sponsors terrorism.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Foreign Ministry (MINREX) pointed out that, with the usual manipulation of the US political system, a couple of anti-Cuba congress people managed to get the Republican Party to approve this legislation on the State Department’s expenditures to perpetuate Cuba’s inclusion on the unilateral State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.

If the event is consummated, it implies, in practical terms, that the Department of State would be prohibited from spending financial resources to stop lying, that is, to correct Cuba’s unfair rating, in the event that the White House were prepared to do so, something about which there is not the slightest indication, the Foreign Ministry explained.

The text also denotes that multiple governments and voices from the international community, especially from Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as various political and social organizations from the United States itself, have been calling for years for the US government to correct this injustice.

They have done it repeatedly, even in recent days and weeks, the statement added.

The Minrex also repudiated the use of corrupt and gangster methods by US legislators to approve this regulation.

It noted that they took advantage of the hypocritical and demagogic behavior of the current US Government, which maintains the unjust designation as an aggressive tool of maximum economic pressure against the standard of living of Cubans.

“The conduct of both the anti-Cuba legislators and the State Department itself is indicative of the contempt of US politicians, above all, for truth,” and for the slightest sense of justice and the expressions and claims of all those who in the world and within the United States themselves trusted for a long time that the current Democratic government would do the right thing in the face of logical, fair and irrefutable arguments, the Foreign Ministry noted.
