Santiago de Chile, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) The countries of the Brasilia Consensus, chaired by Chile, strongly condemned the attempted coup d'état in Bolivia and expressed their solidarity with President Luis Arce.

“The attempt to undermine democratic institutions and the constitutional order is a reprehensible act that goes against the will of Bolivian citizens, and represents a threat to stability and peace in South America,” states the mechanism, which includes 12 countries.

The group published a statement on the website of the Chilean Foreign Ministry reiterating its firm commitment to democratic principles and the defense of fundamental rights in South America and warns that it will remain vigilant against any attempt to violate them.

The Brasilia Consensus seeks to strengthen ties between South American nations, promote cooperation, and project the voice of the subregion worldwide. The Consensus is based on respect for the diversity of peoples, the defense of sovereignty, and non-interference in internal affairs.

The attempted coup d’état in Bolivia was rejected by the Chilean Government, legislators, political organizations, and civil society.

Deputy Boris Barrera condemned the coup attempt and expressed his support for the Bolivian president. “The stability and well-being of our nations depend on a commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law,” he said.

In a message published on X, the Bolivian president deeply praised the support of his Chilean counterpart in the face of the failed coup d’état.
