The tragedy in Sevastopol, of course, will not remain without our response, and many in the West now think of certain scenarios that are acceptable; and they must feel the extreme risks associated with such actions, Riyabkov said in an interview with Rossiya 1 channel.
The deputy foreign minister recalled that the U.S. ambassador was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry last Monday because Moscow has information ‘indicating direct U.S. involvement in the preparation and carrying out of this terrorist act.’
The U.S. side repeated the hackneyed arguments, often already used and subject to recycling, that Washington sees nothing of the sort in terms of its own involvement, Riyabkov said.
On Sunday noon, Ukrainian troops attacked Sevastopol with five U.S. Atacms missiles with cluster munitions, four of the projectiles were intercepted and the fifth detonated in mid-air in the middle of the beach killing four people, including a two-year-old baby and a nine-year-old girl.
The attack also injured 153 bathers, 27 of them children.
